Gha’il Rhodes Benjamin is an award winning spoken-word performance-recording artist, actress, self-empowerment speaker and educator. Gha’il’s performance-artistry was most recently featured on stage in the heart of Brooklyn at the historically powerful Sistas Place where she debuted her newest one- woman-show Brave Brown Women from the Front Lines. She also appeared on stage at the Schomburg in Harlem in author, composer, actress Nana Camille Yarbrough’s No Matter What; and from the stage of the Appel Room at Jazz at Lincoln center Gha’il’s powerful collaboration with John Senakwami and pianist Julius Rodriguez’ band was described as “audacious and electrifying” by Theatre Pizzaz. Motivational Speaker Les Brown declares that Gha’il is “authentic, mesmerizing and a breath of fresh air”. For the third year in a row Gha’il rocked the house as host and performer in Fort Greene’s 18th annual Juneteenth Arts Festival Celebration in Cuyler Gore Park. Ms. Benjamin’s collaboration with Jeff Haynes on the CD titled Storm King with the late great Pete Seeger was Grammy nominated and also the winner of the Audio book of the Year Award, (Publishers Weekly), the Nappa Silver Award and the Audio Files Earphone Award. ”. As an educator Ms. Benjamin coaches and facilitates an array of workshops such as ( your on-stage voice, public speaking, writing spoken-words creatively, voice and movement, etiquette, social justice in the classroom, self-empowerment for every age) encouraging participants of all ages to speak their truths forward with boldness. Gha’il is also the featured performance artist in filmmaker Al Santana’s REPARATION BLUES, and appears in filmmaker China Colston’s DARK SEED and SWEET THANG.
